The Walter Scott Prize reaches Australia

The Walter Scott Prize’s patron, the Duke of Buccleuch, was recently in Sydney and was delighted to meet up with Academy member Jemma Birrell.  Jemma was one of the first recruits to the newly-formed Walter Scott Prize Academy, and showed Richard around Bondi Beach before talking books.  Jemma was until recently Artistic Director of Sydney Writer’s festival, and was able to give Richard some great advice on the latest historical fiction making waves in Australia.

The Walter Scott Prize is open to  books published in Australia, as well as the other Commonwealth countries.  Watch out for our longlist announcement soon!
