Tickets released for Walter Scott Prize events
17th May, 2023
Tickets are now available for the two Walter Scott Prize events at the Borders Book Festival in June – don’t miss this world-class gathering of literary talent.
On Thursday 15th June, the main prizegiving event will open the festival at 5.30pm in a thrilling hour of suspense and time travel, in which the winner is announced live on stage by the Duke of Buccleuch. All seven distinguished authors will converge in the Borders from across the world to see their superb historical novels celebrated and to learn who takes this year’s title, and the two Young Walter Scott Prize winners will also be honoured. Take your ringside seat and come with us to Australia, Tahiti, Crimea and Massachusetts, via rural Ireland, Dorset and Belfast – tickets are now available here.
On Friday 16th June, a new event, the Bowhill Walter Scott Prize Colloquium, offers a chance to dive deeper into the seven novels shortlisted for the 2023 Walter Scott Prize in the beautiful setting of the Duke’s home Bowhill House. An intimate discussion between the shortlisted authors, led by Chair of Judges Katie Grant, is followed by an open floor session on the future of historical fiction, chaired by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson, and a viewing of the first canto of Scott’s masterpiece The Lay of the Last Minstrel. A limited number of tickets, which include a buffet lunch, are available here.
